CHRISTIAN EMPHASIS
Where is the "C" in YMCA?

  • It is in the lives of persons themselves, in an organization.
  • It is in the renewal of faith in God, through an informal sharing of experiences with a person who really cares.
  • It is in the friendly welcome to a stranger to our buildings, and programs.
  • It is in the strengthening of healthy bodies, the temples of the Holy Spirit.
  • It is in the wholesome meetings of boys and girls, with the freedom to make a joyful noise.
  • It is in confessing that we are our brother's keepers as we contribute to programs for under privileged youth.
  • It is in small groups of two or three, working together for harmony and growth, because Christ has already promised to be in their midst.
  • It is in the gathering of committed board members, with their concern that others may experience life more abundantly.
  • It is in the companionship between father and son/or daughter in our various programs, where a child experiences fellowship with a loving and trusting father/mother.
  • It is in the opportunity of a student to ask honest questions, trusting the truth regardless of where it leads.
  • It is the counselor's willingness to listen, when the compulsion usually is to speak instead.
  • It is in the teaching of fair play in a competitive age, in emphasis upon the game and not the score.
  • It is in efforts to bring the whole family together at a time when innumerable pressures are pushing it apart.
  • It is in our camp programs, which emphasize the uniqueness and special ness of each camper.
  • It is the gathering of people together at a YMCA Prayer Breakfast to pray and remember why Jesus died for us.
  • It is in the dedication and love of the YMCA volunteers over the years that believed in the developing of the Y in our community.
  • It is in the caring, support and trust developed between teachers and youth in Child Care Programs.
  • It is in the encouragement Senior Citizens receive in feeling good about taking care of their bodies.
  • It is in the definite application of the Christian Gospel, dedicated to the purpose of developing Christian personalities and a Christian society.
