INFANT CARE
The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati infant program is set up on an individual basis, according to the schedule provided by the parent/guardian to the center and is designed to enrich the infant’s developmental skills.  Infants will be provided with daily opportunities to move freely under adult supervision, to explore their indoor and outdoor environments.  Our caregivers are highly skilled and trained to provide your child with a loving and responsive environment, are respectful of the baby’s individuality, and provide a stimulating and child friendly environment.  Infants will be provided daily “tummy time” and other planned opportunities for physical well being and motor development.

INFANT CARE IS AVAILABLE AT:
Y at Duck Creek (Step Up to Quality 3 Star rated)

The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati toddler care program is designed to meet the developmental needs of toddlers. It provides experiences that enrich and enhance each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical and creative development. Within the center’s daily schedule, each child has opportunities to create, explore the environment, learn problem solving and personal interaction skills, and learn concepts through first-hand experiences. Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self-directed and teacher directed activities. Opportunities for solitary play, as well as group activities, are provided. Through play, children learn important lessons, such as how to manage feelings, emotions and relationships, cooperation, sharing and listening to others. In the early years, (age’s birth to 8 years old) children make no distinction between learning and playing. Children should be taught as much as they want to know, and real learning comes from a young child’s experience of objects. The more ideas, activities, and skills we can offer children, the better; but, only if we respect that play and having fun are essentials to learning.

The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati's Preschool Autism Learning Center is an approved Autism Scholarship provider through the Ohio Department of Education for preschool, ages 3-6. The program is designed to implement a child's IEP (Individualized Education Program) and provide the needed therapies to achieve their goals.

The building blocks of the Autism Learning Program are Applied Behavior Analysis and Incidental Teaching.  With a two to one student to teacher ratio and regular consultation with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, learning and development of skills is continuously taking place throughout the day and across all environments in our Autism Preschools.

Our certified Speech and Occupational Therapist will collaborate with the behavior therapist and focus on the implementation of the goals identified in your child’s IEP. Day to day, the behavior therapists place emphasis on building social skills, pre-academics, self-help skills, lengthening attention span and more. In the Inclusion Learning Program, your child will be included in a preschool with typical peers with a three to one to therapist ratio, along with receiving services of Applied Behavior Analysis, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language services. Our programs are designed to allow a child with autism to experience preschool while maintaining the structure, therapy and academics that they need to learn and grow, in order to become as independent as possible. For more information, please contact Christina Hickey, Clinical Director.
