Weather Emergency Guidelines and Inclement Weather Policy

Programs and classes include swim lessons, sports practices/games, martial arts, dance, art, gymnastics, group exercise (land and water), Senior Centers, trainings, personal training, specialty classes, etc.
 

Licensed child care includes preschool, before and after school, and Schools Day Out.
 

Fitness centers, pools, and child watch areas will remain open as long as the facility is open.

SNOW EMERGENCY CLASSIFICATIONS:

Level One - No changes to Y programs or class schedules
"Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.”

Level Two – Programs and classes may be cancelled (except for licensed child care) in accordance with the local public school district (*See below for further school closing information) 
“Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be very icy. Motorists should use extreme caution.”

Level Three – Ys will be closed
“All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest.”

PROGRAM AND CLASS CANCELLATIONS (All programs/classes except for licensed child care):

*If the public school is closed in your service area, all programs and classes will be cancelled.
 

* If schools have a delayed opening, daytime programs and classes will be cancelled.
 

*If schools are released early, all programs and classes from that designated time will be cancelled.
 

We will make every attempt to keep our facilities open and programs/classes on schedule during periods of inclement weather, while keeping everyone safe as they travel to and from our Ys. If you should have any questions or concerns, call your local Ys weather hotline.
